White wash

I’m stuck in the house because of the snow and will have to miss a friend’s Christmas party that I was looking forward to going. It’s unbelievable how London’s public transport grinds to a halt over a bit of powder?! So I’m killing time surfing the net looking for a cocktail dress to buy for my wedding reception dinner.

The first stop is Marchesa. I’ve been in love with the brand since its conception and it’s at the top of my list!

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig’s Spring 2011 collection is breathtaking. All exquisitely wrought this season with orientalist-inspired details: heavily bejeweled necklines, hand-painted florals on rolling sculptural drapes and grand obilike loops. Amid the gowns were a few harem-panted jumpsuits. Cut in lace and finished with little bolero jackets and jewel-crusted clutches, they didn’t exactly read casual.

These are show stopping dresses that are to die for. Ahhh, it’s my dream of owning one.

Santa….I was a good girl this year, promise.

Shower me please!

I'm writing this from bed, having had a bad case of flu for the past few days. Looks like half of London has come down with it as well...urgh! There's a whole week of drinking and eating coming up and I'm taking my vitamins, ginger tea and chicken soup in hopes that I'll be 90% ready for it (100% would be just too optimistic)!

Last week before this blasted illness took hold of me, I attended a friend's baby shower. There were cakes, champagne, canapes and more bubbly going around. I took a liking to these Alice in Wonderland themed masks scattered around especially the Cheshire cat...wonder why? :)

The best part of these parties are the gifts the expectant mum gets! Amongst her gifts was this lovely Anya Hindmarch Oakley bag. It comes with a separate changing mat, diaper bag and lots of little compartments. Good enough to use as a baby bag or otherwise.

Now she can go out carrying one stylish bag - hers and baby's things, instead of two. Which I can say having been around a few mums, it's a struggle leaving the house with just the minimum.

That aside, I did have someone ask me if the bag matches the pram. What??! With a bag like this...who cares!

Crystal bullets

Crystal bullet from Unearthen.  A raw crystal in a bullet shell. Absolutely stunning and would love one in my Christmas stocking? Hint, hint?

I love her headpiece. It really softens her whole look.

Gold sightings

This outfit was thrown together at the lastminute, my vintage gold jacket and Reiss ruffle skirt haven't seen the light of day in ages. It thought it might add a little shine at the awards do I was attending.

I've been wearing my vintage gladiator-style belt quite a bit recently. It was a great find when I was on a holiday trip to Paris a few years back. Don't you just love it when get something for a good bargain too! I found it in a little shop at the back of a dark alleyway and stumbled upon it by accident. Since then I've tried to look for the shop but to no avail! Devastated!

Alex had on an amazing dress too. We managed to dance the night away wearing 4" heels, my poor feet were pretty sore the next day!

And that wasn't the only thing that was sore. :)

Oh well...c'est la vie!

Fit day

The tube strike was on and it was on the same day as my dress fittings! The girls at the Vintage Wedding Dress Company were so lovely to have waited for me, the last person on a Sunday night too.

It's always a treat going there because Charlie Brear the principal buyer for the company, sources exquisite one off pieces from London, Paris and across the world. I found my dress there and love all the other accessories she has on display at the showroom.

This amazing Edwardian lace and feather stole caught my eye the moment I got in. Not quite right for a beach wedding but I love it so much I'm considering buying it to wear on another occasion. It's SO stunning.

Here are just a few of the other beautiful pieces from their ever changing collection.

Cat walking

It's been a busy week now that the festive season is in full swing. I've been out most days and haven't had much time to blog. Making up for lost time now!

Since my last entry, we've had a couple of snowy days. London is so beautiful when it snows, shame it just turns into ice the next day (my poor sore bum). That's when the impractical foot wear has to be put aside!

Poor Naps has been holed in the house for a few days so I decided to take him out for a walk. We do get a lot of people coming over to say hello as I suppose it's strange seeing a cat on a leash. But he loves it and it keeps him safe from the traffic.

He loves a good stroke, sleep, food and a cuddle. If only life was that simple!
