London College of Fashion BA Show 2011

Deep inside a concrete building at Kingdom House in Paddington, the fashion pack is arriving to see the collections from the chosen 25 designers from the BA courses at London College of Fashion.

I was invited to the show and looked forward to seeing what the runway had in store this year.
Two hundred students competed to be chosen for twenty five places on the runway tonight with three awards up for grabs, including best collection. We nearly missed the show because we were taking so many pictures outside!

My first impression after 10 minutes was the big use of colour in many of the collections. Angela Brady's punk inspired collection presented fluorescent furs, tights with panels of snakeskin and bell-shaped dresses cut from cracked PVC.

Ya-Chiao Rexy Sung's flowy soft pink trousers and top made out of nails was my favourite outfit. The Collection of the Year winner was Wun Wun Nova Chiu with her ethnic style hats, leggings with bells and tapestry prints. Inspirations taken from Chinese architecture.
